Try, Try, Try (トライ・トライ・トライ, Torai Torai Torai^?) is the sixth episode of Hanayamata anime series. The episode premiered on August 11, 2014.

Synopsis

As the girls are tasked with coming up with a concept for their club, Naru, upon hearing from her father about how flowery she has become lately, decides to base her concept around flowers. Having decided on Naru's theme, Hana asks Sally for permission to perform at a department store event. Sally agrees on the condition that the club both show the results of their yosakoi practice and score high enough in their exams. Despite studying hard, Hana alone falls short on her exam results, upsetting her greatly. Encouraged by the others not to give up, Hana continues to work hard on both yosakoi and improving her worse subjects. When their class expresses interest in yosakoi, the girls put on an improvised performance. Admiring the effort Hana and the others put in, Sally approves of their department event and decides to become a bit more active as their advisor. Meanwhile, Yaya and her bandmates are shocked to learn they did not pass their audition. 

Plot

The episode opens with Naru's father talking about how much she changed recently, suspecting she's doing something strangely. Naru gets her idea for what that club emblem should be. Hana, Tami and Yaya all approve of the emblem and it’s not official. The good news continues as Hana has arranged something special for the club.

But their hopes are dashed right away as Sally shoots down this idea of Hana’s. Honestly Sally, you’ve gotta take your job a bit more seriously. After putting the pressure on her, the girls are able to come to an agreement with the teacher: they can take part in the event if they can prove their yosakoi skills to her and all get over 80% on their upcoming tests.

Tami passes with 94, Yaya takes second with 92, Naru barely makes it by with 81, but Hana fails at 72 so much that she broke into tears. Taking the matter back to Sally, they’re rejected as Sally cracks down on them, holding fast to the rules.

One day after class though, while helping Hana with her Japanese work, some of the other girls in their class approach them and ask to see some yosakoi after they notice Yaya holding a naruko. Hana jumps at the chance to dance (no pun intended) and the classroom is cleared and the four of them set up. Yaya, still being tsundere, doesn’t take part of the actual dancing, but rather opts out for manning the narukos instead.

Hana, Naru and Tami all dance together but unknown to them at the time, Sally has been watching over their performance and now seeing their hard work in action, she has a change of heart and allows them to take part in the event.

Yaya and her band prepared for the audition, but sadly didn’t pass and Yaya was staring shocked at the piece of paper with their results.
